pinecrumbs is built to help people find and understand food on long-distance journeys. We aim to collect as little information as we need, keep private information private, and explain when an outside service is involved.
Optional analytics
Google Analytics and Meta advertising tools are optional on pinecrumbs.com. Pinecrumbs does not load them, and site events are not sent to them, unless you choose to allow optional analytics. If allowed, Pinecrumbs may use them to understand aggregate site use, measure pack page visits and pack CTA clicks, and support advertising measurement for the Appalachian Trail and Te Araroa packs. Events should not include free-text feedback, private notes, or place-level personal information. You can reject optional analytics or change your choice later from Privacy settings.
Pack purchases
Pack purchases happen on Shopify, not directly on pinecrumbs.com. When you follow a purchase link, Shopify receives information needed to show the product page, process the order, deliver the digital file, and apply Shopify-side privacy and tracking practices. Shopify’s privacy policy and the shop’s checkout notices govern that purchase flow. Pinecrumbs should not describe Shopify data handling beyond what Shopify and the shop configuration confirm. If you contact pinecrumbs by email or use a link to another service, that service may receive information needed for the interaction. This draft does not establish a complete retention schedule. That schedule and the appropriate legal roles remain to be confirmed.
