Description
The Half-Gallon Challenge at Pine Grove Furnace General Store is an Appalachian Trail ritual near the route's official midway point. Thru-hikers attempt to eat a half gallon of ice cream within thirty minutes. It is one timed food experience at the store, giving northbound and southbound hikers a shared point of comparison.
